Trump's ongoing battle with the NFL over national anthem protests continues, now in the form of a presidential petition. On Wednesday, the president tweeted his disappointment with the NFL's decision "that it will not force players to stand for the playing of our National Anthem. Total disrespect for our great country!" He followed up later that day with a second tweet: "@NFL: Too much talk, not enough action. Stand for the National Anthem." Now, per the New York Daily News, Trump is tripling down on this week's quest to make everyone rise. An "Official Stand for the National Anthem Petition" on the GOP's website has been launched, noting that "the President has asked for a list of supporters who stand for the National Anthem."

"Add your name below to show your patriotism and support," the petition reads, also requesting a working email and ZIP code. After inputting the requested info, those on the petition site are thanked for "standing for the flag" and given the option to make a donation (anyone who offers at least $5 will get an "I Stand for the Flag" sticker). Trump's earlier tweets railing against the NFL came after a league meeting Tuesday designed to address the protests on racial inequities, with owners, players, and officials in attendance. After the meeting, Commissioner Roger Goodell reiterated he and team owners "believe everyone should stand for the national anthem," but that the league had no intention of requiring anyone do so and wouldn't be changing NFL policy.
