They met as strangers, left as members of a lurid club, and now could face felony charges for their trouble. WDIV reports that two passengers on a Delta flight Sunday from Los Angeles to Detroit—a 48-year-old woman ultimately headed to Nashville on a connecting flight, and a 28-year-old man on his way to Miami—apparently hit it off so well that it led to an act of "criminal stupidity," as an ex-Detroit FBI chief puts it to the Detroit Free Press. The woman is accused of performing oral sex on her seatmate while still in their seats, and both received a citation from the FBI, which is looking into the case.
"There are children. There are families. There are seniors. These things should be respected," one passenger tells WDIV. But although the couple could be charged with anything from a misdemeanor to a felony, some experts say the latter isn't likely and that they'll probably just get slapped with a hefty fine that could approach $800 or more. "It's certainly distasteful, but it was not disruptive or interfering with the operation of the plane—and that's typically what [airline incident] charges involve," a Wayne State University law professor tells the Free Press. "The embarrassment is probably the biggest punishment they can receive." (More mile high club stories.)
