More troubling headlines for Kevin Spacey. The BBC has aired an interview with an anonymous man who accuses Spacey of making sexual advances back in the 1980s, when the man was a teenager and Spacey would have been in his mid-20s. Separately, Mexican actor Roberto Cavazos says that Spacey had a bad reputation when he worked as artistic director at London's Old Vic theater from 2004 until 2015, reports NBC News. "There are many of us with a 'Kevin Spacey story,'" Cavazos wrote in a post on Facebook translated from Spanish. "It appears that all that was needed was a male under the age of 30 for Mr. Spacey to feel free to touch us." The 35-year-old says that he personally had "a couple of nasty encounters" that he characterized as "on the verge of being called harassment." He says Spacey lured young men into private meetings on the pretext of talking about their careers.
Meanwhile in the BBC interview, the unnamed man accuses Spacey of coming on to him in not-so-subtle ways, while the actor was in his underwear, before finally backing off. "He was either very stupid or predatory—or maybe a little of both," says the man. He says the pair met at a summer theater when the man was 16 and stayed in touch through letters. A year later, Spacey invited him to stay at his New York City apartment. On the first evening, after a day of sightseeing, Spacey asked the youth to share his bed, an invitation the teen declined in favor of a couch. The next morning, he says he woke with the actor's head on his stomach, and Spacey's arms wrapped around him. "He was in his underwear, I was fully clothed." Nothing happened sexually after that, but the man says he now thinks Spacey was "grooming" him. (More Kevin Spacey stories.)
