CBS isn't just suspending Charlie Rose—the 75-year-old anchor just got fired by the network after several women accused him of sexual misconduct. Rose, who co-hosted CBS This Morning and appeared on 60 Minutes, is out effective immediately, reports the Washington Post, which originally brought the allegations of unwanted sexual advances to light. Rose also is known for his self-produced interview program that aired on PBS, but that network also severed ties on Tuesday, reports USA Today. "In light of yesterday’s revelations, PBS has terminated its relationship with Charlie Rose and canceled distribution of his programs," said a statement from Jennifer Rankin Byrne, VP of corporate communications.
"PBS expects all the producers we work with to provide a workplace where people feel safe and are treated with dignity and respect." A statement from CBS News chief David Rhodes expressed a similar sentiment. "Despite Charlie's important journalistic contribution to our news division, there is absolutely nothing more important, in this or any organization, than ensuring a safe, professional workplace-a supportive environment where people feel they can do their best work."
