Friends balking at rumors of a murder-suicide are seizing on new details about the deaths of Canadian pharmaceutical billionaire Barry Sherman and his wife, Honey. Sources tell the Toronto Sun that the two were found hanging side by side on a railing near an indoor pool in their Toronto mansion with men's leather belts wrapped around their necks and jackets rolled down over their arms and pulled "behind their backs." Police, who've suggested the 75-year-old Apotex founder may have killed his 70-year-old wife before hanging himself, also note Honey's body could've been moved from another room to the pool area, where a security camera may have been disconnected. But a friend who's lived next to the couple for 15 years says Sherman physically couldn't "pick her up and put her on a railing."

"I think it was a murder," he tells the Sun. Another long-time friend tells the CBC that the couple "had everything in life to be looking forward to." In addition to an upcoming trip to Florida, they were to attend their daughter's wedding in the spring. Another daughter had just given them a new grandchild, the friend says, adding the couple who died of ligature neck compression "were madly in love with each other. They still walked hand-in-hand." Police initially said they weren't seeking any suspects as they had found no sign of forced entry to the home. They've since asked a neighbor for security footage and will likely check the couple's cellphones for clues as they await toxicology reports, which could take weeks, per the Toronto Star. A funeral for the Shermans is scheduled for Thursday near Toronto. (More Barry Sherman stories.)
