(AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes) Arnold Schwarzenegger had emergency open-heart surgery Thursday in Los Angeles, TMZ reports. Sources tell the outlet that the 70-year-old action star was at Cedars-Sinai for a catheter valve replacement. There were complications from the surgery, and doctors decided Schwarzenegger needed the emergency operation. Sources say the former California governor is stable and recovering. Schwarzenegger had a previous heart surgery to replace an aortic valve in 1997, which he blamed on a congenital condition. "I've never felt sick or had any symptoms at all, but I knew I'd have to take care of this condition sooner or later," the Los Angeles Times quotes him as saying at the time. "I said to the doctors, 'Let's do it now, while I'm young and healthy.'" CBS SF reports Schwarzenegger seemed in fine health last week during an event in Los Angeles with Ohio Gov. John Kasich. The two talked about the need for a kinder and more inclusive GOP that was willing to work with Democrats on certain issues. “We can’t be afraid to talk about health care,” Schwarzenegger said at the event. “We can’t be afraid to talk about the environment.” (More Arnold Schwarzenegger stories.)
