Carol Burnett surrounds herself with kids in a new Netflix talk show that apparently has her missing her own daughter, Carrie Hamilton, who died of cancer in 2002 at age 38. "You don't get over it, but you cope," the 85-year-old tells People, recalling "a sign" she received from her daughter not long after her passing. Around the start of a play Burnett wrote, the TV legend says she was greeted by a bouquet of birds of paradise flowers at her hotel. "That was Carrie's favorite flower. She had one tattooed on her right shoulder," she says.
That was just the beginning. "Then at dinner the maitre d' gave us a bottle of Champagne, and the label said 'Louise.' That was Carrie's middle name. Then it rained on opening night. Carrie and I were nuts for the rain," Burnett says. The comedian will sit down with kids who offer advice to celebrity guests in A Little Help With Carol Burnett. It premieres on Netflix on Friday, two weeks before Burnett is to receive the first-ever Peabody Career Achievement Award, reports the Wall Street Journal, which also interviewed the star.
