This is sure to make for a poignant episode of her new HBO docu-series: Serena Williams withdrew from the French Open on Monday because of injury. The tennis legend had been due to play Maria Sharapova later, but ESPN reports that a "pectoral muscle injury" prevented her from being able to serve. The AP adds that Williams' voice quivered as she delivered the news. This was Williams' first Grand Slam tournament since giving birth to daughter Olympia, and Williams has been chronicling the difficult comeback through Being Serena on HBO.
