Suit: Sheeran's Grammy-Winning Song Isn't His

Ed Sheeran has another copyright infringement lawsuit to add to the pile. In the latest case, the singer is accused of ripping off Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On," which Gaye wrote with Edward Townsend in 1973, per TMZ. Structured Asset Sales, which claims to have purchased one-third of the rights to the song upon Townsend's 2003 death, says the melody, rhythms, harmonies, backing chorus, bass line, drums, looping, tempo, and syncopation of Gaye's hit are mirrored in Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud," which won Song of the Year at the 2016 Grammys. The company is seeking $100 million. Per TMZ, Sheeran was also sued this year for copyright infringement relating to a song he wrote for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. (There was also this 2016 dispute.)
