Scott Pruitt became the latest Trump administration official to have an uncomfortable dining experience when he was confronted Monday by a woman—and her 2-year-old son. Kristin Mink says Pruitt was three tables away from her when she had lunch at the Teaism restaurant in Washington, DC, and she decided she had to say something. In a video posted to Mink's Facebook page, the schoolteacher urges the Environmental Protection Agency chief to resign, the Hill reports. "This is my son, who loves animals, who loves food and air, who loves clean water," Mink is seen on video telling Pruitt, berating him for rolling back environmental protection policies and becoming embroiled in multiple ethical scandals.
"We deserve to have someone at the EPA who actually does protect our environment, somebody who believes in climate change and takes it seriously for the benefit of all of us, including our children," Mink continues, ending by urging him to resign "before your scandals push you out." On her Facebook page, she said Pruitt and two of his security guards rushed out of the restaurant when she finished speaking. EPA spokesman Lincoln Ferguson, however, says Pruitt "always welcomes input from Americans." Ferguson says Pruitt thanked Mink for her comments then left the restaurant because he had finished his meal and needed to get to a briefing. A manager at Teaism tells the New York Daily News that it is a restaurant that has always been outspoken on environmental issues, making it a surprising choice for Pruitt, though they are "flattered he likes our food."
