On Tuesday Angelina Jolie's attorneys filed papers alleging estranged husband Brad Pitt hadn't paid any "meaningful" child support since their September 2016 split. On Wednesday, Brad Pitt's lawyers countered that claim with some big figures. In a court filing of their own, Pitt's lawyers detailed an alleged loan of $8 million to Jolie for the purchase of her home and $1.3 million in bills "for the benefit of her and their children," as NBC News puts it. Jolie's filing is "unnecessary, omits material information, and is a thinly veiled effort to manipulate media coverage," Pitt's filing alleges.

USA Today gets into the nitty-gritty of the divorce proceedings as well, reporting that Pitt's lawyers claim they informed Jolie's side at the start of August that Pitt was ready to move forward with dissolution and says they were asked to wait a week. In the interim, they say, Jolie's team filed for dissolution. Per Pitt's side, there is also an Aug. 21 meeting with the judge already on the books, making Jolie's request that they return to court to discuss child support a move "calculated to increase the conflict."
