Police aren't releasing a name, but they say they've identified the woman captured ringing the doorbell of a Montgomery County, Texas, home in the middle of the night last Friday; surveillance video showed her wearing only a shirt and what appeared to be wrist restraints. It turns out she was not a missing person as many speculated, but a 32-year-old domestic violence victim who lived in the same Sunrise Ranch subdivision. Police found their way to her via the suicide of her 49-year-old boyfriend, who police haven't named. They performed a welfare check on him Wednesday morning and found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"She is safe and is with family at this time," says Montgomery County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Scott Spencer. Fox News reports that Spencer says a suicide note found at the scene enabled police to identify the woman. "We believe this was a family domestic violence issue and that was why she was seen wearing the hand restraints. She is from the Dallas area and not connected to any of the open missing cases." Neighbors tell the Houston Chronicle the couple hadn't lived in the home very long and weren't social. "I've never seen them and I live next door," said one woman.
