Emily Sioma may not have won Sunday night's Miss America pageant, but many commentators believe she had the best introduction of any contestant. "From the state with 84% of the US' fresh water but none for its residents to drink, I am Miss Michigan Emily Sioma," she said, referencing the ongoing Flint water crisis, per CNN. Many on Twitter referred to the move as "stunning."

Heavy notes that most other competitors used the intro time to talk about themselves—their work, studies, or interests. One sample reaction to Sioma: "If you’re a white person and you’re wondering how to be a true ally. It’s using your platform (privilege) to help others voices (issues) he heard. See Miss Michigan Emily Sioma introduction for notes." Another goes even further: "Emily Sioma for president." (More Flint water crisis stories.)
