Andy Murray was recently honored with a gift by Chinese officials for his contributions to the sport of tennis the country. Unfortunately, TMZ reports the former No. 1 player in the world made short work of the golden commemorative plate when he accidentally dropped it during the photo op, causing it to shatter completely. The 31-year-old Briton covered his face in embarrassment (or, as some have suggested, to cover up a giggle) and immediately apologized as officials scrambled to pick up the pieces. Per the New Zealand Herald, Murray found himself in a similar pickle when, after winning Wimbledon in 2013, he dropped the lid off the iconic trophy and had to fumble to put it back on. Murray was presented with now destroyed award ahead of the Shenzhen Open, where he faces Zhizhen Zhang of China on Tuesday. (More Andy Murray stories.)
