Jeff Bezos recently became the richest person in modern history, and on Wednesday came another milestone for the Amazon founder: For the first time since 1994, Bill Gates has been unseated at the top of the Forbes 400. Bezos is the first new No. 1 in 24 years, with a net worth of $160 billion. The rich are apparently getting richer, because Forbes notes that this year, the minimum net worth to join its annual list of the 400 wealthiest Americans climbed to its highest level yet: $2.1 billion. That's $100 million more than last year, and the average net worth of a list member is also up from last year: $7.2 billion compared to 2017's $6.7 billion. The rest of the top 10:

  1. Bill Gates, $97 billion
  2. Warren Buffett, $88.3 billion
  3. Mark Zuckerberg, $61 billion
  4. Larry Ellison, $58.4 billion
  5. Larry Page, $53.8 billion
  6. Charles Koch, $53.5 billion
  7. David Koch, $53.5 billion
  8. Sergey Brin, $52.4 billion
  9. Michael Blooomberg, $51.8 billion
