Justin Theroux has talked publicly about his split with Jennifer Aniston—and now Aniston is returning the favor, adding her take on her marriage to Brad Pitt as a bonus. Elle reports that Aniston "doesn't need a happy ending," and its interview with her reveals that's partly because the actress says she's already had two "very successful" marriages, both of which ended due to a "choice that was made because we chose to be happy." She adds: "Sometimes happiness didn't exist within that arrangement anymore."

Aniston also says she doesn't feel "a void" at no longer being wed, and that the media's obsession with her relationship status "[diminishes] everything I have succeeded at, and that I have built and created." As for that "storybook" ending many seek, Aniston isn't on the hunt for it. "I understand it, and I think for some people it does work," she says. "And it's powerful and it's incredible and it's admirable. Even enviable. But everybody's path is different." Her full interview here, in which she also touches on her famous estrangement from her mom and on why she's so protective of her privacy. (Over the summer, Aniston said speculation about her uterus was "reckless.")
