The family of a Detroit teen who was injured by gunfire that struck her home is looking to move—and they've taken to GoFundMe to assist in that effort. Myonna Lanton, 14, survived the Oct. 14 ordeal, in which someone shot at her house while she was watching TV and texting her mom, per the Detroit Free Press. A bullet hit Myonna on the side of her head and lodged in the bone under her left eye. She was in the hospital for three days as she underwent procedures to extract the bullet and rebuild her nasal passages. No one was ever apprehended for the shooting. Her mom, Myra Lanton, says her daughter suffers from headaches and panic attacks months later, and that "it really bothers [Myonna]" whenever she hears loud noises, especially gunfire.

That's why the family is looking to move out of Detroit, perhaps in the suburb where Myonna goes to school. "I have not felt safe while at home, therefore my family and I are currently in search of a new home in a safer environment," Myonna writes on the crowdfunding page. "We just want to live everyday life without looking over our shoulders or through the window," or via the security cameras they now have outside their home, she adds to WXYZ. The GoFundMe has raised more than $3,000 as of Thursday. (A GoFundMe was set up for a teacher who got into a fight with a student.)
