At Supreme Court Today, a Notable First

The big headline out of the Supreme Court on Monday has nothing to do the legalities of the two cases being argued. Instead, it's that Ruth Bader Ginsburg will miss oral arguments for the first time in her 25-year tenure, reports the AP. The 85-year-old is at home recuperating from last month's surgery to remove cancerous nodules from her left lung. And that surgery came after she fractured ribs in a fall in November. "Justice Ginsburg is unable to be present today," Chief Justice John Roberts announced at the start of Monday's session, reports the Washington Post. Roberts said she will instead read a transcript of the day's proceedings, along with briefs and filings. (Ginsburg's fall in November may have had a silver lining.)
