You'd be forgiven for assuming Sherrilyn Kenyon's tale about a conspiracy and poisoning comes from one of the fantasy author's best-selling novels. It instead makes up a lawsuit brought by Kenyon against her husband, whom she accuses of conspiring with his assistant to poison her over three years, reports the Nashville Tennessean. Kenyon, author of the "Dark-Hunter" series, says she fell mysteriously ill in late 2014, with health problems worsening to the point that she couldn't walk on her own. The lawsuit describes her hair falling out, teeth shattering, and bones "breaking from very minor pressure." At the same time, Lawrence Kenyon and an assistant he allegedly paid with funds from his wife's business account, Kerrie Ann Plump, "would force her to eat and become enraged any time she failed," the suit states.

More than once, Kenyon says she choked after eating food given to her by her husband, the sole beneficiary of a $1 million life insurance policy he took out on his wife without her knowledge, per the suit; one time she even vomited. The complaint argues another person also began vomiting after tasting food Plump had given to Kenyon, who referenced a "strange metallic taste in her mouth." A doctor eventually found high levels of heavy metals like tin, barium, and thorium in Kenyon's body, which couldn't have occurred naturally, Kenyon tells the Tennessean. "I am much better today," she writes in a newsletter to fans, per Yahoo, coming 10 months after her husband filed for divorce and moved out. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the claims, which Lawrence Kenyon's lawyer calls "outlandish." (A romance novelist is accused of murdering her husband.)
