Warren: Trump 'May Not Be a Free Person' by 2020

Sen. Elizabeth Warren wants to be the Democratic nominee in 2020—and she's not sure who her Republican opponent will be. She told a campaign event in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Sunday that every day brought "a racist tweet, a hateful tweet—something really dark and ugly" from the president and wondered if it was worth chasing after them every day, Politico reports. "Here’s what bothers me. By the time we get to 2020, Donald Trump may not even be president," she said. "In fact, he may not even be a free person." A day earlier, when Warren confirmed her 2020 White House bid, Trump once again mocked her as "Pocahontas" with a tweet that some said invoked the 19th-century "Trail of Tears."

When asked about her remarks hours later, Warren cited the number of Trump investigations, the New York Times reports. "It's no longer just the Mueller investigation," she said. "They're everywhere and these are serious investigations, so we'll see what happens." The Times reports that fellow 2020 hopeful Sen. Cory Booker said while campaigning in Iowa on Saturday that he's not sure Trump will be the nominee, but if he is, "you will see the toughest, strongest person standing against him." Trump, meanwhile, mocked Sen. Amy Klobuchar after she entered the race Sunday. He tweeted that it was "bad timing" for her to have talked about fighting global warming while standing in a "virtual blizzard." "By the end of her speech she looked like a Snowman(woman)!" he said.
