A plane hijacker whose only apparent demand was to speak with the prime minister of Bangladesh—but who also complained of marital problems—has been shot and killed, Reuters reports. The unidentified male entered the cockpit of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Bangladesh to Dubai Sunday and forced the plane to make an emergency landing. After all 148 passengers and crew (save one crewmember hostage) got off, Bangladeshi commandos stormed the plane and shot the man, who died later.

Officials said he told them he was armed, per the BBC. "We tried to arrest him or get him to surrender but he refused and then we shot him," says an official. Gulf News reports that the man looked Bangladeshi and around 25 years of age. What he wanted to tell Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, if anything, remains unclear. (In Canada, a case of mistaken identity led to an airport lockdown.)
