Ariana Grande Opens Tour With ... Voter Registration

Ariana Grande launched her "Sweetener" world tour on Monday night with a concert that included singalong hits, wardrobe changes—and voter registration. Head Count, a nonpartisan organization that teams with musicians on democracy initiatives, is signing up new voters on the 51-show tour, CBS News reports. The nonprofit has worked with Jay-Z, Chance the Rapper, and other musicians, and says it's registered about 500,000 voters since 2004.

After opening night in Albany, fans tweeted praise for the concert and the registration tables. The Rolling Stone review points out that one audience singalong occurred late, though it wasn't planned: Grande's microphone wasn't working as the encore began. It didn't seem to be a problem.
