On Saturday, Brandon Adams, a Georgia Tech defensive tackle, was named a player to watch this spring. Hours after that article was published, the 21-year-old was dead. The school announced Adams' death and offered condolences in various statements from officials, reports WSB-TV, which rounds up reactions to Adams' death from coaches, teammates, and others. Atlanta police later said in a statement that Adams collapsed at a home near campus late Saturday night and friends took him to Emory University Hospital Midtown. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Adams was born in Tennessee and recruited by Georgia Tech for the Yellow Jackets in 2016. He had his best season in 2018, and was expected to play a significant role this season, likely as a starter. In its obituary, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution calls the business administration senior, who was often called "Big B," "a giver of hugs and a hefty but nimble defensive lineman" and says he had "clear NFL potential." He is survived by his mother, stepfather, and sister. Spring practices are set to begin Tuesday. (A mom talks about the death of her own college football player son.)
