A group representing Muslims in France is suing Facebook and YouTube over footage of the mosque shootings in New Zealand. The French Council of the Muslim Faith accuses the platforms, which raced to delete a livestream and copies that sprung up in the aftermath, of "broadcasting a message with violent content abetting terrorism, or of a nature likely to seriously violate human dignity and liable to be seen by a minor," per CNN. A rep for the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand tells Reuters it welcomes the move and would support "something which can deter the social media space in terms of these types of crimes." He adds FIANZ will register a complaint with Facebook, which "failed big time." (It took 29 minutes for the stream to be flagged.)
