Orlando Moore and Portia Ravenelle set out for the Dominican Republic last month, but they didn't make their flight home on March 27—and the New York couple hasn't been heard from since. The last picture they are believed to have posted to social media shows them riding horses during the vacation. They checked out of their Samana hotel, the all-inclusive Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa resort, but police don't know what they did next; their phones are off. Their rental car is missing, and back home, their car is still parked at the Newark airport. Moore's sister contacted the US Embassy in the Dominican Republic, then filed a police report, and the US State Department says it is working with local authorities on the search, NBC New York reports.

Moore has a daughter and would not "just run off on a hiatus," his sister says. "He's gonna let someone know where he is." She adds, "I'm scared. I don't know what's going on. I'm saddened, my family is saddened by this and we just want [my] brother to return safe and alive." Ravenelle's family has gone to the Dominican Republic to assist in the search, per the New York Post. Per Fox News, the State Department's most recent travel advisory for the Dominican Republic, which was issued in February, recommended that tourists exercise increased caution due to crime.
