An 18-year-old woman obsessed with Columbine who police feared might try to pull off a similar assault is dead, reports CBS Denver. Police had converged near Mt. Evans in Clear Creek County, Colorado, in the hunt for Florida resident Sol Pais, and Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Shrader says the FBI found her dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Pais had flown from Florida to Colorado Monday night and then bought a pump-action shotgun, authorities said.

They described her as "infatuated" with the 1999 school shooting, and comments she made prompted authorities to close schools in the Denver metro area. The AP reports her parents reported her missing in Florida on Monday night after last seeing her Sunday. She attended Miami Beach High School, where classmates described her as someone quiet who wore black. FBI Denver tweeted, "We can confirm that Sol Pais is deceased. We are grateful to everyone who submitted tips and to all our law enforcement partners for their efforts in keeping our community safe." (More Columbine school massacre stories.)
