In a true sign of the times, a Vancouver developer is offering free avocado toast with every condo purchase, the Courier reports. The Kira development also features such amenities as a meditation room and a rooftop courtyard, but the one getting the most hype is the gift card to a local restaurant that comes with every condo purchase, Vice reports. The amount on the card is enough to cover avocado toast or any other breakfast option once per week for a year, according to developer Woodbridge Homes.
"Saving for a down payment does require some saving and sacrificing," the company's president Jamie Howard tells the Toronto Star. "At the Kira project, we say you can have your avocado toast and eat it too." The developer also aims to make it easier for millennials to purchase one of the condos, which range in price from $399,000 Canadian to $649,000 Canadian, by only requiring a 10% down payment rather than the more typical 15% to 25%. As for the promise of avocado toast, Vice notes an Australian real estate company made the same offer in 2017 in an attempt to lure twentysomething buyers. (But Vice thinks the move is actually a response to this guy's controversial comments about millennials, home buying, and avocado toast.)
