President Trump has a packed schedule during his visit to the UK—but he wasn't too busy to feud with Bette Midler on Tuesday night. He blasted the star as a "washed up psycho" after she shared a debunked quote in which he supposedly described Republicans as the "dumbest group of voters," Fox reports. Midler was "forced to apologize for a statement she attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her in order to make 'your great president' look really bad," Trump tweeted. "A sick scammer!" USA Today notes that the tweet was sent around 1:30am London time. In an earlier tweet, Midler had apologized for sharing the fake quote, saying: "Don’t know how I missed it, but it sounds SO much like him that I believed it was true!"

Midler—who has been clashing with Trump since long before he entered politics—fired back at the president with several tweets Tuesday night. "Yes, one must always check the quotes," she said in one tweet. "That should take up, oh, maybe 23 of the 24 hours in the day? Because there are SO MANY LIES, most of them generated by Trump himself, that the task of separating the truth from the lies is impossible." She also said he should "fire the tailor" who made his waistcoat for Monday night's state banquet at Buckingham Palace, and mocked him for downplaying protests against his visit to Britain. "Trump said he was greeted by thousands in the UK, but they were actually thousands of protesters," she tweeted. "How does he always hear the opposite of the truth?" (More Bette Midler stories.)
