Mohamed Morsi, the former Islamist president of Egypt who took office after the country's first free elections in 2012 and was later sentenced to death, has died in court, according to Egypt's state TV. He was 67. Al Jazeera reports Morsi was in court Monday in connection with his trial on espionage and fainted and died after a session. His body was then taken to a hospital, reports the AP. Morsi, a member of Egypt's now-banned Muslim Brotherhood, was removed from office by the military in 2013. He was subsequently sentenced to death in connection with a mass prison break that took place during the 2011 uprising, but that sentence was overturned in 2016. (More Mohamed Morsi stories.)
