Eric Trump was visiting the Windy City Tuesday night, but a stop at a local hot spot apparently proved less than pleasant for him. NBC reporter Mary Ann Ahern was the first to report on the alleged incident at the Aviary cocktail bar, where word that Trump had been spit on by an employee around 8:30pm trickled out. She added that the Secret Service had the suspect in custody, and that Trump was eventually seen exiting the bar. Employees confirmed the incident to the Washington Post and Chicago Sun-Times, and Trump himself offered verification to the right-wing Breitbart. "It was purely a disgusting act by somebody who clearly has emotional problems," Trump tells the site.
Trump also believes the incident was a political one, with a witness claiming the female employee "murmured inaudibly something that sounded like it was anti-Trump," per Breitbart. "For a party that preaches tolerance, this once again demonstrates they have very little civility," Trump says, seemingly referencing Democrats. "When somebody is sick enough to resort to spitting on someone, it just emphasizes a sickness and desperation and the fact that we're winning." While the Secret Service is staying mum about what went down, Chicago PD rep Anthony Guglielmi retweeted a news blurb about Trump and confirmed his officers had been on the scene to help with a "law enforcement matter" regarding a "federal protectee."
