2 More Officers Terminated After Parkland Probe

Two more officers who responded to the shooting at Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have been terminated from the Broward County Sheriff's Office, CNN reports. Sheriff Gregory Tony announced Wednesday that Edward Eason and Josh Stambaugh were terminated Tuesday for neglect of duty. The terminations resulted from an internal investigation into the police response to the shooting last February that left 17 students and teachers dead; seven officers were part of the inquest. Four of them have been terminated (and one of those, school resource officer Scot Peterson, was also arrested) and the other three will return to duty.

Tony said a report will be released publicly at some point, NBC News reports. A public safety commission found last year that Eason did not immediately enter the school building, inside of which some people required immediate help. And a state commission found that Stambaugh heard the final gunshots yet did not move toward the school. (The former sheriff was suspended—and sued over it.)
