Disney is working on yet another live-action remake of an animated classic—and it has now chosen its Ariel. R&B singer Halle Bailey will star in the remake of The Little Mermaid, which is being directed by Rob Marshall, Vanity Fair reports. The 19-year-old sings with her sister Chloe in the duo Chloe x Halle. "After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance—plus a glorious singing voice—all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role," Marshall said in a statement, per Variety. Melissa McCarthy is rumored to be in talks to play sea witch Ursula. "Dream come true," tweeted Bailey, sharing an image of a black Ariel. (More Disney stories.)
