All-time heat records are being set across Europe as the continent deals with its second summer heat wave. Paris hit a record high of 108.7 degrees Fahrenheit Thursday, as tourists streamed to any body of water they could find to escape the heat, USA Today reports. All-time records were also set in Germany (106.7 degrees, just a day after a previous record high was set), Belgium (105.1 degrees), and the Netherlands (107.1 degrees), while a July heat record was set in Britain (98.4 degrees). It was the first time the Netherlands recorded a temperature at or above 104 degrees. In Paris, the previous all-time high was 104.8 degrees in 1947.

The BBC reports that in France, five deaths may be linked to the heat wave, which is expected to break Friday in some parts of the continent while holding for one more day in other parts. One death in Austria may also be connected. Thursday was day three of record-breaking temperatures, per AccuWeather. (Some are concerned about Notre Dame amid the heat.)
