The plight of a pit bull in Connecticut is tugging at the heartstrings of animal lovers: The young female was left tied to a tree with no tags or microchip, but a note explaining why she'd been left there. "She's an amazing dog," read the note, which said the dog is house-trained, will be three years old on Aug. 12, and is named Annabell. "Human friendly. Dog friendly. All shots. And a sweetheart," it reads. "Couldn't afford her please help." The Norwalk Animal Shelter posted pictures of the dog and the note Sunday on Facebook, where it has been shared more than 400 times. Nearly 200 comments have been left on it so far, including one person who offered, "I will pay adoption costs for the person who adopts her. Let's get her a good home."
"She’s here, she’s nice and comfortable and eating good," Officer Richard Duddi of Norwalk Animal Control tells the Hour. "This is something that happens, people can’t afford the dog and they don’t know where to take them." He predicted she would be going to a new home next week, after a state-mandated eight-day waiting period before a found animal can be adopted out. (More animal shelters stories.)
