A Manhattan gallery owner says he got beat up for wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat and suggests "anti-Trump" police are dragging their heels in the investigation. Jahangir Turan, 35, says he was passing a group of 15-18 teenagers in SoHO earlier this week when a girl flipped off his newly purchased hat and the gang attacked, ABC News reports. "I got pushed from the back and my face hit the scaffolding pole and I got startled," he says. He claims the attackers also shouted anti-Trump slurs, per NBC New York. Turan suffered a black eye, bruises, and broken bones under his eye, but no damage to his vision and retina.

"The cops were like, 'Can you ID them?' And I couldn't," Turan tells the Daily News. Then came the lack of arrests: "Of course I'm [angry]— why do you think I went to the media? I felt angry after Tuesday and Wednesday, when I didn’t see them doing anything. ... I think some of these cops are anti-Trump." A police official says they don't doubt Turan, but two law enforcement sources say some are questioning the gang story and wonder if Turan just got in a fight with someone. A statement from the NYPD also doesn't mention the attackers' anti-Trump remarks. Meanwhile, Turan has a plan: Keep the hat at home. "It's dangerous to wear a hat like that in New York City," he tells USA Today. (More Make America Great Again stories.)
