"We carry Emmy with us every day. ... Keeping her a part of our family has really made this journey a little bit easier for our family," says Morgan Miller more than a year after the drowning death of her 19-month-old daughter with husband Bode Miller. And now that family is getting bigger: The couple announced Monday they're expecting identical twin boys in November. They had welcomed son Easton, now 10 months old, just four months after Emmy's death; they also have a 4-year-old son, Nash, and Bode has an 11-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son. "The kids kind of pull us forward because they demand interaction, and they have a great way of healing," he tells Today.
Morgan, 32, says Bode, 41, always wanted identical twin boys. "This time when I found out I was pregnant I said, 'Do you think it's twins this time?' He said, 'No.' So I went to the ultrasound by myself, and sure enough, identical twin boys." Adds the former Olympic skier, "Somehow I always knew that I was going to have identical twin boys." They say they're constantly talking about their memories of Emmy and imagining what it would be like if she were still alive, and Easton, who is already learning how to swim, reminds them of her. In an Instagram post announcing her new pregnancy, Morgan says, "Easton provided us an even closer bond to his sister. The moment I heard his cry, something sparked back alive in my soul," and she learned that "my joy and grief could coexist." In his own post, Bode says the twins are a "dream come true."
