Controversial comedian Andy Dick says he was "knocked out 100%" when an attacker sucker-punched him outside a New Orleans comedy club. In an attack captured on video, a man in dark clothes can be seen moving toward Dick outside One Eyed Jack's in the city's French Quarter early Saturday, NBC reports. The man then punches the 53-year-old comedian, sending him into the side of the building, where he apparently hits his head on something before falling to the ground. Guitarist Paris Dylan, who was with the comedian, says the assailant "wasn’t provoked in any way," but "attacked with the intent to severely injure or even kill."

Dick tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he was attacked "while I was getting in the car with my friends" and he was treated in the hospital for brain bleeding after being knocked out cold for 15 minutes. The comedian is known for his outrageous behavior onstage—and for his arrests on charges including sexual battery—but producer Robert Couvillion says he was "on his best behavior" during his Friday night show at the club. "Some of his shows are a little wilder. Every show is different," Couvillion says. "This show was mostly storytelling. He didn’t disrespect anyone." Police in New Orleans have confirmed that they are investigating a "possible assault." (More Andy Dick stories.)
