Alyssa Milano is getting personal about abortion. The actress—who recently called for a sex strike to oppose anti-abortion laws—revealed in her podcast Sunday that she had abortions twice in her 20s. "In 1993, I had two abortions," the 46-year-old said, per USA Today. "I was in love for the first time, in the breathless way you can only be in love when you are young. It was huge. … It filled every part of living. It was a joyful and exciting and powerful time in my life." She was "not ready to be a parent" and was devastated when the pill didn't work, she says. "I was raised Catholic and was suddenly put in conflict with my faith. … I had a career and a future and potential. And also, I suffered from sometimes crippling anxiety."

The Insatiable star was also on Accutane, a controversial anti-acne medicine known to cause birth defects. "I chose," she said of the abortion. "It was my choice. And it was absolutely the right choice for me." But it wasn't over: "They tell you the pill is 99% effective at preventing pregnancies and yet, a few months later, I found out I was pregnant again," she added, per Us Weekly. "So I had done what I knew to do to prevent pregnancy and was still pregnant. So once again I made the right decision to end that pregnancy." She doesn't mention her significant other, but was engaged for a short time in 1993 to Double Dragon co-star Scott Wolf. The podcast episode is called Sorry Not Sorry.
