Remember that time John Travolta butchered Idina Menzel's name at the Oscars? Travolta is taking a ribbing for what appears to be another awards show misstep, though this one is far less obvious. At the MTV VMAs show Monday night, Travolta and Queen Latifah announced that Taylor Swift had won Video of the Year for "You Need to Calm Down." But when Swift's entourage walked on stage, Travolta appeared to mistake drag queen Jade Jolie for Swift and began handing the award to Jolie, reports E! Online. (See video here.)
In fairness, the Louisville drag queen is so convincing as Swift that she actually appeared in the winning video as a Swift lookalike, notes the Courier Journal. Jolie also has been performing as Swift on stage for the last eight years. Travolta hasn't acknowledged the flub, but Jolie seems pretty pleased. "Almost got my first award tonight thanks to @johntravolta," she posted on Instagram, along with a GIF of the moment. (More John Travolta stories.)
