On Monday, President Trump began pushing for next year's G7 summit to be held at his very own Trump National Doral Miami resort. On Tuesday, Trump had to push back against some related buzz: "No bedbugs at Doral," he tweeted. "The Radical Left Democrats, upon hearing that the perfectly located (for the next G-7) Doral National MIAMI was under consideration for the next G-7, spread that false and nasty rumor. Not nice!" The apparent source of that rumor is a 2016 lawsuit by brought by a New Jersey visitor who complained of being chewed up one night, as explained in this Miami Herald story from 2017. The resort denied it but settled the case, and neither side will provide details about the confidential deal.

A new Miami Herald story provides some good news for Trump in regard to his no-bedbug assertion. "President Trump passes this fact check, at least as far as bedbugs," the story declares. It rounds up the four state inspections on file for the resort's lodging, and none of them turned up bedbugs. Still, the New Jersey visitor had provided photos of his chewed-up neck in his lawsuit, and frequent Trump critic George Conway—husband of aide Kellyanne Conway—tweeted one of the images, adding this of Trump: "Now you’re lying about *bedbugs.* You settled a lawsuit with this guy."
