Kevin Hart underwent back surgery Sunday only hours after surviving a horrific car crash in the Los Angeles area. Sources tell TMZ the actor/comedian's surgery was successful and he's expected to spend a few days in hospital. Doctors are optimistic about the 40-year-old making "a full recovery," the Blast reports. With a bodyguard's help, Hart managed to crawl out of the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda after it plunged off Mulholland Highway in Calabasas at about 1am Sunday morning. But driver and pal Jared Black was pinned inside and seriously injured.

Black's fiance, Rebecca Broxterman, also got pinned inside but was removed by firefighters relatively unharmed. Black is said to be at UCLA Medical Center with members of his family as he tries to recover. The vehicle itself suffered severe damage, with photos showing the entire top of the muscle car ripped off. (Hart initially went home after the crash, leaving Black and Broxterman inside the Barracuda.)
