Brad Pitt: 'I Removed My Drinking Privileges'

Brad Pitt doesn't exactly open up about the end of his relationship with Angelina Jolie in a new interview with the New York Times—"I had family stuff going on" is about all he'll say—but the actor does open up quite a bit about his sobriety. Rumor has it it was a fight about Pitt's drinking that precipitated the end of his marriage to Jolie. Whether that's true or not, things are different now: "I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges," he tells the Times.

He spent a year and a half in Alcoholics Anonymous. "You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard," he says. "It was this safe space where there was little judgment, and therefore little judgment of yourself." It was also safe in that none of the members of Pitt's recovery group shared any of his stories with the tabloids. "It was actually really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself," he says.
