Less than two weeks after star wide receiver Antonio Brown joined the New England Patriots, he was cut by his new team. "Thanks for the opportunity," Brown tweeted to the team Friday. "We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days," the Patriots said in a statement. A former trainer has accused Brown of sexually assaulting her, and she sued him this month. Brown rejected a proposed settlement of more than $2 million, ESPN reports. Another allegation of sexual misconduct, against another woman, was reported this week, and her lawyer said Thursday that Brown has sent her threatening texts, per Sports Illustrated. "I'm just here to focus on ball," Brown told reporters Thursday. He played one game for the Patriots.

Brown practiced with the team on Friday before the announcement. Bill Belichick, the Patriots coach, had confirmed that Brown was still on the roster but then cut his news conference short after being asked seven questions about Brown's issues. "I'm happy to answer any football questions," Belichick said, per ESPN. "But the rest of it, I'm done with the rest of it." Brown had signed with the Patriots after being released by the Oakland Raiders. His agent tweeted Friday, per WBZ, that Brown is "looking forward to his next opportunity in the NFL."
