Trying to Avoid Crying Babies? This Airline's Got You Covered

If you live in fear that you'll be seated next to a crying baby the next time you fly, a new feature at Japan Airlines may prove interesting. The airline has added a feature to its online booking tool that shows a baby icon on any seats booked by parties traveling with someone 2 years old or younger, CNN reports. "Thank you, @JAL_Official_jp for [warning] me about where babies plan to scream and yell during a 13 hour trip. This really ought to be mandatory across the board," tweeted one satisfied customer. Not everyone in his replies agreed with him, with multiple people suggesting he purchase noise-canceling headphones, and one person noting that some might prefer "a map of seat locations for mouth breathers, droolers, farters, drunks, and perhaps a lot more things in life."

"I have no issues with babies, but if I can avoid the risk of a parent who lets their child run amok, I'm happy to take advantage," the happy customer tells USA Today. "And when you have transoceanic flights, you want greater certainty." The baby icon is displayed only for bookings made through the airline's website, and the seat map will be rendered invalid if there's a change in aircraft. (More Japan Airlines stories.)
