"Did we hear that right?" is how a narrator for Inside Edition reacts as she watches a clip of Blair Davis, a contestant on the episode of Wheel of Fortune that aired Monday. That's because Davis' self-introduction to the studio audience and America was "off the rails," per HuffPost. "I've been trapped in a loveless marriage for the last 12 years to an old battle-ax named Kim," Davis began, to instant laughter. "She cursed my life with three stepchildren ... and I have one rotten grandson." Host Pat Sajak didn't miss a beat, replying: "No wonder you came here—you just wanted to get away from everybody." Davis, a trucking business owner from the San Diego area, tells Inside Edition he didn't want to go by the usual introduction "template" that everyone else seems to follow for this "once-in-a-lifetime experience."

Something else that stood out about Davis: his long gray beard, which he explains he keeps intact for "rotten" grandson Noah, per NBC News. "Every time I threaten to shave it off, he gives me a really hard time," Davis told Sajak. In reality, Davis only has love for his family. After hearing Davis' irreverent intro, Sajak noted, "I know you're being facetious," to which Davis answered with a wide smile, "Absolutely. I love them like nobody's business." And from the Wheel of Fortune official Twitter account, there's only love for Davis. "We appreciate a stark sense of humor. Last night's contestant Blair had us all laughing" read Tuesday's post. Fans also appreciated Davis veering from the usual script. "Blair is the darkest @WheelofFortune contestant ever," sports writer Jeff Eisenband tweeted, with apparent admiration. (Sajak admits he and Vanna White have done the show drunk.)
