After a photo from Hawaii prompted engagement rumors, Dennis Quaid confirms: He's getting hitched. Extra got first verification from the 65-year-old actor not long after he asked 26-year-old girlfriend Laura Savoie to be his wife on the island of Oahu, where Quaid is helping spread the word about his new movie, Midway. Although Quaid says he'd been scheming how to pop the question for more than a month, he notes that the actual act at sunset at Turtle Bay was "kind of spontaneous" and "very much a surprise." "I had the ring in my pocket," he says. "She was actually taking a selfie of us, and I put the ring in front and said, 'Will you marry me?' And then she fell down."
After she got back up, the congratulations started pouring in, with People noting perhaps the funniest one emerged from Quaid's Parent Trap co-star Elaine Hendrix. Hendrix plays the new lady in the life of Quaid's character who, by the end of the movie, gets shoved out after his twin daughters instead maneuver to get him and his ex-wife back together. "Watch out for those twins," Hendrix cheekily tweeted, perhaps referring to Quaid's actual 11-year-old twins with ex-wife Kimberly Buffington. Savoie is reported to have been the valedictorian of her class at Pepperdine University, where she dated Jeremy Piven, and is now going for her PhD in accounting at the University of Texas at Austin. She'll be wife No. 4 for Quaid, who was previously married to Buffington, actress Meg Ryan (with whom he shares a son, 27-year-old Jack), and Carrie actress PJ Soles. (More Dennis Quaid stories.)
