Saturday Night Live's Cold Open was set against the backdrop of a rally for President Trump, and had a little something for everyone: an escaped ISIS extremist, Bill Clinton, Lindsey Graham, Mark Zuckerberg, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Open, which managed to largely refrain from its habit of late of leaning on celebrity cameos to carry it, did however lean on SNL alums Fred Armisen and Darrell Hammond, notes USA Today. But the episode overall was, as Slate puts it, "incredible." The key was in the host: "Chance the Rapper pulled double duty as host and musical guest ... and the result was the best episode since John Mulaney hosted last spring, at least when Chance was on screen."
