Being nominated for an Academy Award makes for a tough act to follow, but Lady Gaga has made her choice. She'll star in Ridley Scott’s film about the assassination of Gucci grandson Maurizio Gucci. Gaga will play Patrizia Reggiani, Gucci’s ex-wife, who was convicted of being behind the fashion heir's killing, the Guardian reports. The singer-actress was last onscreen in A Star Is Born, the 2018 Bradley Cooper film for which she won an Oscar for best song and received a nomination for best actress.

Reggiani was released from prison in 2016; Gucci was slain on the steps of his office in 1995, per Deadline. Her children blamed her battle with a brain tumor for the killing, which Reggiani planned after her husband left her for another woman. The film will be based on The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, a book by Sara Gay Forden. (At least one member of the family behind the fashion dynasty has been wary of a Ridley Scott film for years.)
