Rand Paul didn't just speak in support of President Trump at a Monday night rally in Kentucky, he got the crowd revved up with a whole new chant: "Do your job!" The chant emerged after Paul implored the media to identify the whistleblower who instigated the Trump impeachment inquiry. "I say tonight to the media, do your job and print his name," said Paul, reports USA Today. (See a video clip via Fox10 Phoenix.) Paul asserted that the name is already known, a reference to unconfirmed reports in conservative media outlets, per the Hill. "The whistleblower needs to come forward as a material witness because he worked for Joe Biden," said Paul.

Trump himself has said the same about the whistleblower, asserting that he's a "Never Trumper" and thus has no credibility. Democrats counter that witnesses have corroborated the whistleblower's central allegations. An attorney for the whistleblower criticized Paul's comments. "A member of Congress who calls for the identity of any lawful whistleblower to be publicly revealed against their wishes disgraces the office they hold and betrays the interests of the Constitution and the American people," said Mark Zaid in a statement. (Full transcripts from the impeachment depositions are being released.)
