Alex Trebek has inspired millions with the candor he's shown in detailing his dealings with pancreatic cancer, but he touched one young Jeopardy! contestant so much that the 18-year-old reached into his wallet. Avi Gupta, a freshman at Columbia University, emerged as the champion in the game show's Teen Tournament over the summer, and of the $100,000 he won, he's donating $10,000 of it to research on pancreatic cancer, USA Today reports. The Knight Cancer Institute, part of Oregon Health & Science University, tweeted a video out Friday announcing Gupta's generosity and asking others to join in for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

"I was inspired to give by Alex Trebek, the host of Jeopardy! and someone I've looked up to my whole life," Gupta says in the short clip. "I'm honored to be able to make this donation to the Knight Cancer Institute to support him and the millions of other people suffering from pancreatic cancer across the world." He adds in his own tweet: "Let's #EndCancer together." The amount Gupta donated was actually just a bit over $10,000: $10,314, a shoutout to the mathematical constant pi, per CBS News. WBNS notes that Gupta himself inspired a sort of "Daily Double," with his donation spurring KCI Director Brian Druker to match Gupta's pledge. "What a remarkable young man and what a great gesture," Druker says. "We hope it inspires lots and lots more people." Anyone similarly inspired can donate here. (More Jeopardy stories.)
